WARRINGTON Wolves chief executive Andy Gatcliffe has been presented with an inlaid Carnegie Challenge Cup Winners plaque by the town’s Mayor Cllr John Joyce – a self confessed St Helens fan!
The presentation was a thank you from the Mayor and Warrington Borough Council for the achievements of the club in winning the Carnegie Challenge Cup in 2009 and also retaining the title in 2010.
Andy said: “It is an absolute pleasure and honour to accept this unique plaque on behalf of Warrington Wolves. The recognition by both Mayor Cllr John Joyce and the borough council is very much appreciated. We the club will continue to ensure that the profile of Warrington remains high at every opportunity.”
Cllr Joyce was delighted to witness the Wolves’ demolition of Leeds at Wembley last August after seeing his beloved Saints dumped out of the cup by the Yorkshire outfit.
