EMPLOYEES from a Warrington-based utilities giant have been spreading festive cheer with a 12 days of Christmas charity extravaganza.
Staff from United Utilities held a different fundraising event on 12 consecutive days at the company’s headquarters at Lingley Mere, to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes.
Highlights included a Santa dash featuring more than 60 employees, including senior managers, a competition for the most festive-looking office desk, a mince pie sale and a Christmas cracker joke competition.
A collection of unwanted toys was also held for the charity Together Trust, which distributes toys to disadvantaged youngsters.
The company is hoping to raise several thousand pounds for its chosen charities.
One of the fundraising organisers Louise Pearson said: “The response of staff to our season of fundraising been terrific. It raised a lot of smiles, as well as a stack of cash for charity.
“It’s not often you see your boss running round the block dressed as Santa – but this time of year seems to bring out everyone’s festive spirit!”
