A NEW nursery and children’s centre will be officially opened in Warrington today – on a site where there has been a nursery for more than 40 years.
Deputy Mayor Ted Finnegan will unveil a plaque to open the new building at the Cygnets Sure Start Children’s Centre and the Cobbs Nursery, Appleton. Coun Sheila Woodyatt, executive member for children and young people, will also attend.
Celebrations include a tour of the centre and nursery, children singing and refreshments. The public are invited to visit the centre between 11am and 3pm.
A council spokesman said: “There has been a nursery on this site for over 40 years and it has always played a very important part in the life of the school and of this community.
“In supporting this new build, the council has demonstrated its commitment to early years education, recognising the important part it has to play in the education and development of our youngest children.”
