Clubbing together
MEMBERS of Warrington Golf Club got together to make up shoe boxes filled with home comforts to send to British troops serving in Afghanistan. They have also raised more than £5,700 for the Help for Heroes charity with a series of events.

Allotments dropped
A PLAN submitted to Warrington Borough Council for the change of use of land at the rear of 57-91 Orford Road, Warrington, to form 49 allotments with car parking, landscaping, etc, has been withdrawn by the applicant.

Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 3, 7, 8 and 13. One person won the £260 jackpot and four special Christmas consolation prizes were awarded – a hospital visitor won a £25 prize and three £50 prizes were won by a visitor and two members of staff.

Sewer upgrade
PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for the construction of a surface water outfall on land off Barnard Street, Penketh, as part of a larger sewer upgrade scheme.

Soul night
A SOUL night, with DJ Al Whitt, takes place at the Alliance Centre on Norman Street, Warrington tonight (Saturday).

Pamper night
AN evening of pampering, including massages, facials, retail therapy, etc at Whitley Village School, raised £550 for the pre-school.
