Fake TVs offered for sale

0

SHOPPERS in Warrington have been warned to be on the look out for rogue traders trying to sell plasma televisions from the back of a van – particularly on car parks.
Trading Standards officers have received a number of complaints from shoppers approached by the traders.
The TVs are packaged and may also have accompanying promotional leaflets to give the impression that they are new.
In fact they are faulty and do not work at all – in some cases the screens are smashed.
Two men have been arrested by police and have been bailed pending further enquiries. But others may be operating in the area.
Anyone who sees any sales activity of this nature is asked to call police on 0845 458 0000. Anyone who has actually bought a TV in these circumstances is asked to call Consumer Direct on 0845 404 0506.
