A 20-year-old Warrington woman has signed for a top Danish handball club.
Holly Lam-Moore had been in great form for SK Aarhus and caught the eye of the coach from Liga club Sonderjyske, who play south of Denmark, close to Germany.
She said: “When they offered me Liga Handball, of course my answer was yes.
“Their left winger is injured for eight months so they needed me straight away.
“This is the perfect opportunity for me to gain experience in the top league this close to the Olympics. It will be extremely tough and means I will have to lower my expectations, but throwing myself in at the deep could make me a better handball player.”
Meanwhile, back in Warrington it was the Warrington Wolves men’s team under the spot light. They faced Manchester University looking for a win to get themselves back on track towards the top of the league.
They went behind early on but fought very hard to get themselves back level and were in a good position at half time with the scores at 12-12.
Wolves put themselves at a disadvantage through a couple of suspensions. This lead to careless turnovers and they seemed to be struggling to cope in defence, often losing concentration and opening the doors for an impressive Manchester side.
Manchester took full advantage of Wolves’ weaknesses and just kept on adding to their own score, subsequently leaving Wolves behind. The full-time score was 26-22 to Manchester University.
