Mobile phone mast approved

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a new, larger mobile phone mast to replace an existing installation.
Telecommuncations giants Vodafone and Telefonica O2 will share the mast in Widnes Road, Penketh.
It will stand 15m high, compared to the 12.5m high mast currently on the site.
Penketh Parish Council opposed the scheme, together with two nearby residents.
But another resident supported the proposal.
Planning officers recommended the scheme be approved and claimed the new mast would not have any significant impact on the area compared with the existing one.
In addition, a mast shared by two operators on the site will reduce the need for a new mast in a more densely populated part of Warrington.
The borough council’s planning sub-committee approved the development.
