VANDALS are being blamed for a fire which caused extensive damage to a disused park building at Warrington.
The blaze was at about 8pm last night at Victoria Park and involved the kitchen area of a derelict pavilion.
Three fire engines were called to the scene and fire crews, wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the outbreak using two hosereels.
An examination of the building afterwards revealed that a window had been broken and burning materials dropped inside.
It is understood plans exist to refurbish the building and bring it back into use.
