£42m spent with local firms

WARRINGTON Borough Council spends £42 million with businesses in the town – 38 per cent of its discretionary spend.
This was revealed by council leader Ian Marks in response to a question by Conservative councillor Paul Kennedy, at a meeting of the council.
More than half the money is spent with smaller to medium sized businesses.
The council spends £11.2 million with firms employing up to 49 people, £6.7 million with firms employing between 50-99 people and £6.2 million with firms employing between 100-250 people.
