A WEEK of activities aimed at keeping students safe is being held in Warrington.
During Safeguarding Week police will work with Warrington Collegiate to look at students’ personal, internet and road traffic safety issues.
Cheshire Police’s exhibition vehicle will be set up at the Winwick Road campus. PC Jeff Mather, school liaison officer for Warrington, will be on hand to discuss a range of safety issues and take part in classroom sessions.
Traffic officers will offer advice on road safety and other traffic issues and Police Community Support Officers will security mark bikes and give out free bike locks.
Crime Scene Investigation staff will talk about their work including evidence gathering, collecting fingerprints and dealing with a crime scene, and offer home safety and security advice.
PC Mather said: “During this event at Warrington Collegiate local officers are highlighting a variety of issues including drug/alcohol awareness, how to stay safe on the roads, security in the home and personal safety.
“The event is aimed at making students more aware of important issues and making them feel safe and secure.”
Police will also outline how they keep people safe with issues raging from the role of drug dogs to tackling weapons crime.
Collegiate principal Paul Hafren said: “We are really pleased that the students are getting a chance to become more aware of the importance of health and safety and thinking before they act.”
