Club celebrates centenary

A WARRINGTON football club officially celebrates its centenary this month – even though their shirts bear the slogan “established 1913.”
Officials at Lymm Football Club have discovered – after ordering the shirts! – that the club, formerly Lymm Old Boys, was playing in the Lancashire Amateur League as early as 1910 and may have been a founder member of the league in 1899.
A special celebration event is being held at Lymm’s Spread Eagle hotel on Wednesday, November 17 when many former and present players are expected to attend.
Any former players who have not already heard about the event are asked to call Jimmy Slavin on 07737 655211.
The club, which still plays in the Lancashire Amateur League, is always keen to hear from new talent. Anyone interested should also ring Jimmy.
