FOR the first time ever, Warrington’s Christmas Lights Switch On will be a ticketed event.
Following the huge success of previous years, the Golden Square Shopping Centre is predicting more than 3,000 people will come to see this year’s Christmas Light Show and wants to ensure everyone can enjoy it safely.
One of this year’s X Factor stars will headline the fun-filled event on Thursday November 18, set to take place in the Old Market place at Golden Square.
Two thousands free tickets will be available from the Golden Square Customer Service Desk, located near Starbucks, from Saturday November 6 on a first come first served basis.
Marketing manager Ian Cox said: “This year we wanted to give more families the chance to enjoy the fantastic Christmas Light Switch On, as last year was such an incredibly busy event. By giving away free tickets we are hoping to make the allocation of who can attend much fairer so that more people with children who may struggle to arrive early will have the chance to take part in one of the biggest events of the year for Warrington.”
A small number of places will be left open to anyone arriving early without a ticket, but from 5pm access to the Old Market Place will be ticket only.
The event will also be shown on a big screen at the bottom of Bridge Street.
The Christmas Light Switch On event will also feature a range of entertainment for all the family from 5.30pm – 7.30pm. The audience will be entertained by a variety of fantastic acts including local vocalist Laura Harrison, Nigel Martin-Smith’s up and coming boy band The Mend, Bob the Builder and his Never Mind the Breezeblocks show, Warrington based street dancers Nu Era and Parr Hall’s larger than life panto stars.
