Man arrested after hostel blaze

A 40-year-old man has been arrested following a fire that engulfed the ground floor of a hostel in Warrington.
The blaze, which police and fire services believe was started deliberately, caused extensive damage at the Salvation Army’s James Lee House on Brick Street yesterday.
It started in the television room and residents were evacuated for a short time.
A 40-year-old local man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He will be interviewed later today.
