OUT of 149 drug and alcohol action teams in the country, Warrington’s is officially the best.
Pathways to Recovery – CRI (Crime Reduction Initiatives) are the current drug service provider in Warrington and they are reporting a 100 per cent success rate in national targets set to monitor performance.
The National Treatment Agency (NTA) has confirmed these figures and report that this is a first in Warrington’s history.
Treatment Outcome Profile’s (TOP’s) are the standardized method for monitoring outcomes in the drug system and how differences are being made to drug users. They are set by the NTA, whose job is to improve drug treatment in England. Drugs workers in the borough ensure they meet with their clients at the beginning and end of their treatment and complete ongoing reviews with them every eight to 13 weeks. There is a range of information to collect around service user’s health, employment status, parental status and whether they are using other drugs, which is a massive job and important to get right.
Coun Roy Smith, executive member for health and well being, said: “This is a truly remarkable achievement and shows how far Warrington’s, drug and alcohol action team and Pathways to Recovery have come to be top of their field. This work makes a real difference to individuals, families and the community. Well done to everyone involved!”
