STUDENTS from a Warrington college have been accepted at some of the most prestigious drama and performing arts schools in the UK.
Among those from Warrington Collegiate achieving success is Dale Curran, 20, who was accepted at prominent stage school East 15 – now part of the University of Essex – which lists many stars amongst its former students.
He said: “I feel privileged to be accepted at East 15, the standard of competition was outstanding. I am happy that my years of hard work have paid off.”
He studied the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at the college where, he said, students were treated as if they were already working in the industry.
Dale said: “Life hasn’t always been easy and I have sadly been estranged from my parents since I was four. I find that acting gives me a great outlet for my emotions and I can draw from these experiences from my life to build a character.”
He took part in a touring show called Borstal Boy, first shown at the Edinburgh Festival and then off Broadway in New York.
“I live for the stage and my goal in life is to get a leading part in a film one day,” he said.
Others from the college achieving success are performing arts students Ryan Kay who will attend The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, Sarah Goggin, Bird College, London, and Richard Allen at the UK’s leading school, Rose Bruford, London.
Performing arts tutor James Baker said: “The students on this course are given extensive training to a professional standard. Learners are expected to work under professional conditions and have a disciplined approach to their classes and training.
“We have strong training philosophies which we share with our young actors to challenge their ideas and abilities. This helps us to build fresh and exciting talent which drama schools are now recognising.”
