A SPECIAL residents’ meeting has been called to discuss the controversial planning application to extend the life of the giant Arpley Landfill site at Warrington.
The meeting has been called by Great Sankey parish councillor Jim Regan, along with Bewsey and Whitecross borough councillor Bob Timmis.
It will be held at Great Sankey Library, in Marina Avenue, on Tuesday (October 12) at 6.30pm.
The meeting has the full support of other borough councillors representing the area.
All the councillors are opposing an application by tip operations the Waste Recycling Group to extend the life of the tip until 2025 as long as the company intends to bring the waste materials in along Liverpool Road.
Coun Regan said: “It’s time to call an end to this. Residents have suffered enough over the last 20 years.”
