A WORLD premiere will be performed at the Pyramid Arts Centre in Warrington on Saturday November 6.
The North Cheshire Wind Orchestra will stage “Songs and Refrains” conducted by Catherine Tackley.
It will feature the world premiere of “Blame it on the Blues” written especially for two members of the orchestra, as well as the opportunity to hear McNeff’s sparkling Clarinet Concerto, a previous orchestra commission.
The serenity of Goto’s reworking of Beethoven’s famous Moonlight Sonata will provide a contrast to Torke’s portrait of a metropolitan hub, while Waespi and Basford draw on traditional folk music in their evocations of the British Isles.
The programme will include Michael Torke, Grand Central Station, Robert Orledge, Blame it on the Blues, Stephen McNeff, Clarinet Concerto, Oliver Waespi, Hebridean Rhapsody, Yo Goto, Fantasma Lunare, Daniel Basford – Songs and Refrains.
The concert starts at 8pm and there will be a pre-concert talk at 7.20pm. Tickets are priced at £8/£7 with concessions at £3 for under 16s. Further information is available by ringing the box office on 01925 422345 or via the website at http://www.pyramidparrhall.co.uk
