FIVE friends have raised £1,600 for charity with a gruelling coast-to-coast Trans Pennine cycle ride
The five cycled more than 170 miles from Liverpool Docks to Hull over a period of three days.
They were Matthew Bent, managing director of Bents Garden and Home, Glazebury,
Warrington, his brothers-in-law Andrew Morris, Scott Heesom and Mark Downton, who is Bents’ horticultural operation manager and friend Wayne Price.
The money will go to Ronald MacDonald House family support facility at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool – Bents’ charity of the year.
Matthew said: “The Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey is a cause that is very close to my heart as myself and my wife spent quite a lot of time there when our second child was rushed into hospital. The care given by the team was fantastic and we will never forget the way we were treated.”
Bents’ customers and colleagues have already raised more than £5,400 for the cause, which will be boosted by the cycle ride.
Donations are still coming in on the Coast to Coast Just Giving page so the final figure is set to rise even further.
All donations to www.justgiving.com/bentscoast2coast will be added to Bents’ overall Charity of the Year total which will be announced in January.
