A new training academy is set to be launched at Warrington Town Football

Club this week providing opportunities for youngsters aged 16-18 who are out of

work and looking for a career in sports.
The Sport for all Programme (SAP) will allow the club to employ between 20 – 40 full time sport apprentices and provide work experience opportunities.
The club in partnership with the SAP scheme have sourced match funding that will help develop and educate young people in a variety of sports and at the same time provide a core base of sporting qualifications.
The scheme is available to anyone aged 16-18 not attending full time college or working more than 15 hours per week who want to earn while learning in a sporting environment.
The Football Education/Sport for all Programme will be based at the football club and will be a programme for any young footballer who wants to progress and develop their skills and an opportunity to learn new information and skills for a multi range of different sports requirements and fitness training techniques.
It is an opportunity for any aspiring players, late developers or young players who have been at professional clubs or young people interested in sport. It will allow the young apprentice to work over a football season (maximum 40 weeks) to further develop their football and sporting skills and abilities through a programme of training sessions and matches. Students will also increase their education by working towards their NVQ Level 2 followed by NVQ Level 3 in Sport Recreation, along with other qualifications’ such as First Aid & Child Welfare etc.
The programme will be led by fully qualified coaches and educational tutors. All the apprentices will be paid a weekly salary and combine their coaching and education over a three day week.
Manager Joey Dunn is excited about the scheme stating, “It is an excellent opportunity for a club like ours to run such a project, with our on-site facilities. It allows us to try and develop and train young people and give them an insight and experience of the level to aspire to. We believe we will be inundated for places on the scheme.”
