TWO men were killed in a horrific collision on the M6 motorway – and a 60-year-old lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
Police are warning motorists to avoid the motorway if at all possible.
The incident happened on the northbound carriageway between Junction 17 and Junction 18. Both carriageways were closed but the southbound lanes are now open again
It is believed the two men were pedestrians and were in collision with a heavy goods vehicle on the motorway near the Sandbach turn-off.
A police spokesman said: “We are still advising drivers to avoid the area. The northbound carriageway is likely to be closed for some time and congestion is likely to be very heavy.”
