A GRAPPENHALL club has been awarded a grant of £5,000 to develop youth football in Warrington.
Grappenhall Sports Football Club (GSFC) received the cash from the Football Foundation to help develop the sport.
It gives the club the opportunity for boys and girls as young as four to learn skills and play the game.
GSFC is an FA Chartered Standard football club and all coaches have the appropriate FA qualifications and CRB checks.
Chairman Danny Woodall said: “The funding from the Football Foundation is a major recognition of the club’s professional approach and marks a significant investment in youth football in the Warrington area.
“We are committed to continuing the development of the club and this cash injection will enable us to offer the highest quality football coaching for the very youngest members of the local area.”
Warrington South MP David Mowat said: “Our disappointing performance in the World Cup has shown us that we need to get more young people playing football.
“I’m delighted that Grappenhall Sports FC has been awarded this money by the Football Foundation and I would like to congratulate all those who worked so hard to get this grant. It’s good news for Grappenhall and good news for Warrington.”
