THE eighth annual Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership awards is under way and local people are being urged to nominate either themselves or others for a “gong”.
Previous winners include Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle and Paralympic gold medallist John Stubbs so winners will be in distinguished company.
The awards celebrate the dedication of local sporting talent and give members of the public a chance to vote and be nominated for one of 10 categories.
Included for the first time are an Innovation Award and a Healthy and Active Workplace Award for organisations that promote healthy and active living for their staff.
Headline sponsors Warrington Wolves and Cheshire Jets will be out in force at the awards ceremony on Saturday, November 13 at Mere Golf and Country Club.
The Partnership is also keen to recruit sponsors for the remaining award categories in return for a package of benefits which includes having their chosen category named after their company, the opportunity to be involved in the judging panel and a table for 10 guests at the awards evening.
Representatives from three local authorities; Warrington Borough Council, Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester will also be present on the night when guests will be welcomed by the Partnership’s chairman David Newton and chief executive Jackie Bryson.
Award nominations can be made online at www.cwsportspartnership.org or by phoning the Partnership office on 01606 871812. Closing date for nominations for the Innovation Award and Healthy and Active Workplace Award is October 8.
