Join the fight for cancer survival

A WARRINGTON fundraiser is urging local people to “Join the fight for women’s survival” and support a breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign.
Louise Aubrey, Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for Warrington, and her fundraising colleagues launched the campaign. To promote it they wore pink camouflage outfits, teamed with the charity’s unique pink and blue camouflage ribbons.
The camouflage ribbon is designed to promote the charity’s campaign and the role the charity’s scientists play “on the front line” in the battle against breast cancer.”
The disease affects more than 45,500 women each year in the UK, including more than 5,290 in the North West. Last year the charity spent over £44 million on groundbreaking work in the UK.
Louise said: “We are shaping up to recruit mums, dads, families, friends and work colleagues throughout the region to help raise money. We want them to step forward and be counted as they ‘Join the fight for women’s survival.’
“The message to everyone is clear: Cancer Research UK needs you! Supporters can request a fundraising pack crammed full of tips for organising an event to raise money for life saving research.”
During the past few years more women than ever have been diagnosed with breast cancer – but thanks to earlier diagnosis and better treatment, more are also surviving.
Louise said: “We need everyone in Warrington to get involved. Our research is beating breast cancer but we still need people to help us fight harder. Every penny raised will help save more lives in the future.”
Fundraising packs can be obtained by visiting www.jointhefight.org.uk or by telephoning 08701 60 20 40.
