A WARRINGTON team won the eighth annual leaving care football tournament held at Victoria Park.
The group stages were played in a league system and RISE FC (Respect, Involvement, Support, Empowerment) finished top of the table. They played Oldham in the semi final and Bolton in the final and won both matches 1-0.
The Mayor of Warrington Coun John Joyce presented the winners with their trophy. He was “really impressed” with the way they played and represented their town.
This is the third time a team from Warrington has won the tournament and the town will be hosting the finals again next year.
The players were Jason Currie, Jason Kennedy, Tommy Gilmore, Jason Williamson, Liam Kennedy, James Kennedy, Nathan Clapham and Simon Cade – who was named player of the tournament.
