Police warning: be on your guard

RESIDENTS of the Penketh and Great Sankey areas of Warrington are being urged to be on their guard following a spate of thefts from garages and sheds across the town.
A number of items – including bicycles and motorbikes – have been stolen recently from the Sankey area and officers are urging locals to remain vigilant.
Local officers are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry but anyone with any information in relation to any of the thefts is asked to get in touch.
PC Dave Foster said: “Anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents or has any information, which could assist with our enquiries, is urged to get in touch.
“Many thefts such as this are opportunistic – if a thief sees a door that looks insecure they are more likely to try to break in.
“We are urging residents in the area to remain security conscious and to reassess their current security measures to take steps to reduce their chances of falling foul of thieves.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0845 458 0000.
Information can also be passed on anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
