POLICE in Warrington are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in the town centre in the early hours of the morning.
The 19 year-old was in the Voodoo Lounge Bar, Friar’s Gate at 4.20am on Wednesday when she stepped outside for a cigarette.
She was sexually assaulted in an alleyway close to a car park at the back of a club by an unknown man. The victim shouted for her attacker to get off her and he ran away, possibly towards the town centre.
He is described as being in his 20s, of large build and was wearing a yellow round neck T-Shirt. He had a beard and brown hair.
Police are also keen to speak to another man, unconnected with the assault but who may have witnessed the incident or seen the offender running away. He is described as white with tanned skin and aged about 19 years.
He had a round face, short dark hair and spoke with an accent. He was clean shaven and wore a black T-Shirt with a multi-coloured pattern on the front.
Anyone with any information is asked to call DC Pam Hopkins on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
