YOUNG people in Warrington are being urged to try new activities – including street dancing, volleyball and bowls – for free.
As part of the Victoria Park Experience (VPX) there will also be a chance to try football and rugby,
VPX takes place on Tuesdays August 17 and 24 at the Knutsford Road venue from 10am to 3pm.
Police Community Support Officers Tony Spruce and Tom Reid have helped organise the event and are working with other agencies such as Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Stronger Together. the Neighbourhood Action Team and local businesses.
During the past few years hundreds of young people have taken part in the event, formerly known as Rampworx.
PCSO Tony Spruce said: “We wanted to help create an event that would not only keep young people entertained over the summer holiday – but an event that would also help to forge close links between young people and a number of different agencies within the local community.
“We already have strong links with many schools/youth groups in Warrington but by being involved in VPX it allows us to strengthen those links and to break down any potential barriers.”
Anyone who wants to take part can just turn up on the day. Other activities will include a special graffiti workshop and coaching in BMX riding, skating, and skateboarding.
Prizes will also be handed out at each VPX event – including passes for outdoor activities, bikes, t-shirts and sports equipment.
