POLICE at Warrington are appealing for information after a hit-and-run road crash.
A white van was in collision with a pedal cyclist on the A574 Birchwood way at its junction with the B5210 Woolston Grange Avenue and failed to stop.
The collision occurred just before 2pm on Friday (August 6).
Locally, the junction is known as the College Place Roundabout.
A pedal cyclist was emerging from Woolston Grange Avenue intending to go around the roundabout towards Crab Lane, when he struck struck by a white van coming from the Birchwood direction to exit onto the Warrington bound carriageway. The van was similar to a white Peugeot Expert van and was driven by a man.
The cyclist, a 43-year-old from Manchester, was taken by ambulance to Warrington Hospital with a suspected broken pelvis. However, upon examination he was found to have less serious injuries than originally suspected, consisting of cuts and bruises to his legs and arms, and was treated and discharged the same day.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident itself, or any part of it, or who may be able to identify the driver of the white van involved. They are also appealing to the driver himself to make contact.
Anyone with any information can contact the investigating officer PC Joe Royle at the Warrington Road Policing Unit on 0845 458 0000.
Alternatively, information can also be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111.
