WARRINGTON Town are suspending sale of tickets for their opening league
clash with Chester FC scheduled to take place on Tuesday August 24.
The Cantilever Park ground is currently only licensed for a capacity of 1,300 following a ground inspection in July 2003 and the club are now holding talks with the police and the council to see if this can be increased.
There is expected to be huge demand for tickets as it is Chester’s first game since being relegated to the Northern Premier League (EvoStick League) when Chester City failed to fulfill their fixtures in the Conference last season after going out of business due to financial irregularities.
Town Chief Executive Gary Skentelbery said: “This is obviously a big night for our club and we want to ensure everything is in place for it to run smoothly.
“Quite a few changes have taken place around the ground since 2003 and we are hoping that by making it all ticket and increasing our security we can look at having the capacity increased slightly.
“We will also have to look at how we allocate tickets to ensure our own fans can get in while at the same time meet the demands of Chester.”
