Women chosen for county squad

TEN Warrington women have been selected for the Cheshire Women’s cricket squad for their next two County Championship matches against Essex and Middlesex.
The squad for the Essex match on Sunday, July 25 includes Dawn Prestidge (vice captain), Shami Ahmed, Hannah Gradwell, Jennie Kitzinger, Kate Harvey, Natalie Heap, Kate Shelhorn and Lorna Thomas, all of Warrington and Natalie Lyons, of Appleton.
The same players are included in the squad for the Middlesex game, on August 1, except that Shami Ahmed of Warrington is replaced by Emma Barlow, of Appleton.
Lorna Thomas has also been selected for the Super Fours tournament to be held from August.17-20.
The Super Fours comprises a series of 50 and 20 over matches between the best 52 Under 19 women cricketers in England.
Thomas was the leading wicket taker in division two of the Women’s County Championships last year, and recently made her maiden half-century for Cheshire.
