WARRINGTON Wizards produced an excellent performance to convincingly defeat Dewsbury Celtic 52-16 in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference at Wilderspool Stadium.
The Wizards were unstoppable in the first half, going in at the break 34-0 ahead and although Celtic managed to salvage some pride in the second half they were never going to threaten the outcome of the game.
Warren Ayres was on target with 10 from 10 conversions.
The Man of the Match was awarded to Wizards loose forward Jono Smith.
Tries: Ian Stephenson 2, Jono Smith 2, Graham Healey 1, Dan Faulkner 1, Danny Burgan 1, Alan Reddecliff 1.
Goals: Warren Ayres 10 from 10.
After the game Head Coach Chris Campbell said, “That was a great display from the boys especially in the first forty minutes. We got on top very early on and never let them have a sniff. Everything we did came off and that was very pleasing to see. The whole team can be very happy with how they performed and we now need to take this form into our game against Nottingham Outlaws this coming Saturday.
“Nottingham haven’t had the best of results this season but they are a very dangerous side on their day and we cannot afford to be compacent against them. We will prepare ourselves well this week in training and make sure that we are ready.”
