WARRINGTON Wizards got back to winning ways when they won 24-18 at Liverpool Buccaneers in a hard fought Co-operative Rugby League Conference National encounter.
The Wizards were not at their best in what was a scrappy game at times but they just had enough skill in their ranks to hold off a brave Liverpool side who pushed the Wizards all the way.
Tries: Matt Taylor 1, Graham Healey 2, Matt Clarke 1, Jono Smith 1.
Goals: Ryan Millington 1, Warren Ayres 1.
Best for the Wizards were Shaun Gilmour, Jono Smith, Graham Healey and Matt Clarke.
After the game Wizards Head Coach Chris Campbell said, “That was a big win for us; we made alot of unforced errors that put us under pressure unnecessarily but the lads stuck at their task and deservedly got the win. It wasn’t the prettiest of games but sometimes you ahve to win ‘ugly’ and that is what we did. We can now get ourselves ready for another big game this coming Saturday when we entertain Dewsbury Celtic at Wilderspool Stadium.”
Kick off is 4.30pm.
