PLANNING chiefs have rejected an application to change the use of an office building on the A56 Church Road at Lymm to a shop.
Members of Warrington’s planning sub-committee went against the advice of officers who had recommended the change be approved.
Three nearby residents objected and Coun Sheila Woodyatt raised concerns about inadequate parking facilities.
She said the premises were close to the junction of Church Road and Eagle Brow and a pedestrian crossing. There was only one parking on-site space, and that had an unsatisfactory access. Customers visiting the shop would park on the A56 causing a hazard.
Neighbours objected on similar grounds and pointed out there were existing problems caused by illegal parking.
After the committee threw out the proposal, Coun Woodyatt commented: “I think this was a commonsense decision.”
