MORE than 1,000 former pupils of Culcheth High School near Warrington, are taking a trip down memory lane today at a special school re-union.
It will be a final chance for former pupils to see their old school buildings before they are demolished.
A new multi-mullion pound brand new school facility has already been developed on the old school fields, with the existing buildings now due for demolition.
Former pupils and teachers spanning various generations, right back to the 1930s, will be attending the special event – including warrington-worldwide Editor Gary Skentelbery, who is pictured above with his former class mates from 1978-79.
Gary said: “I am looking forward to a trip down memory lane.
“Unlike many of my former class mates I have been visiting the school on a regular basis over the years, in my other role as Editor of Culcheth Life.
“So my memories are very fresh but it will be sad seeing the old buildings knowing it will be for the last time.”
Former class mates and teachers will meet during the day, followed by a special ticket only event in the evening, including food and disco.
“My music tastes haven’t changed since my school days and with one of my old school pals in charge of the sound system the place is going to rock!” added Gary.

Does this mean that Gary the ‘Rock God’ as he sometimes likes to be known will be taking a turn at the mike? I wonder what music he will be playing…’deeper and down’….
No tie Gary?
Must have been a dress down day as one of the girls is wearing jeans!
Suspect it was our final day at the end of year – if you look closely you can see my prefect badge!
I thought that it was a spot on the photo. Couldn’t believe that you were a prefect.
More perfect than prefect 🙂 Good grounding for being CEO of a football club! 😉
A great time was had by all – around 1,500 of us -photos from the day will be uploaded later!
