WARRINGTON Wizards produced what was probably their best ever performance when they won 32-24 at Featherstone Lions in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National, a win that sees them go to the top of the league table.
The victory was all the more remarkable as they did it without more that ten players who were misssing through injury and they also had several in the seventeen that we bot fit but they all dug deep especially in the second half after trailing 24-10 at the break.
The Wizards scored tries through Alan Reddecliff 1, Jono Smith 2, Matt Taylor 1 and Ryan Cosgrove 1. Warren Ayres 3 and Ryan Millington 3 added the goals.
After the game Head Coach Chris Campbell, himself missing through injury, was absolutely thrilled.
He said, “That was an unbelievable effort from one to seventeen. They did everything that we asked of them and more and thoroughly deserved the win. Our team spirit and commitment to the cause shone through in bucket loads and I am so proud.
“We now have a week off due to Carlisle Centurions dropping out of the league and that has come at the right time for us. It will give the walking wounded a chance to recuperate and be ready for our next game which is in a fortnight at home to Huddersfield Underbank Rangers.”
