Youngsters from Penketh High School and Kwadeda High School, in Soweto have collaborated on the film, “The Opportunity”
It will be premiered at Anfield football stadium today and at the Odeon Cinema, Manchester on Tuesday (May 11).
The film is a hard-hitting drama with a football background, which focuses on the issues affecting young people in both the UK and South Africa, such knife crime and racial prejudice.
The project has been supported by Liverpool Football Club and part of the storyline focuses on a teenager from Soweto who is signed by the Reds.
In an emotional and dramatic real life twist, 10 young people from Soweto have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the UK and attend the premiere thanks to funding from the British Council.
The film has been two years in the making and is the latest venture by Penketh High School which has produced a number of high-profile movies in recent years.
