Factory to become church?

2

PLANS to convert a former factory building into a church are to come before Warrington planning bosses for a second time.
Members of the borough’s development control committee will consider the proposals in Europa Boulevard, Westbrook again on Wednesday, May 12.
They have been to inspect the site since first looking at the proposals last month.
The building, erected 27 years ago, has stood empty for the last seven years and Oasis Warrington – a Christian church established less than two years ago – are seeking permission to convert the building.
Councillors have been told the church has a growing congregation of around 120.
If the scheme is approved, a small number of staff would work from the building during the day.
But the proposals are strongly opposed by Burtonwood and Westbrook Parish Council and 10 nearby residents.
They are concerned about evening and weekend use of the building, noise, traffic and parking issues and public amenity issues.
But two nearby residents support the scheme on the grounds it would have a positive impact on the community.
Oasis Warrington has been holding services and meetings at the Pyramid, in Warrington town centre and at Penketh High School.
But they say they need a permanent home as the congregation is likely to increase in size.

  1. “a Christian church established less than two years ago”

What is wrong with the Christian churches that are already established? are they not Christian churches worshipping the same god? or is it a church founded by someone on an ego trip…. a bit like the one started by David Koresh?
