STAFF members at Warrington’s Golden Square shopping centre gathered together and observed one minute’s silence to show their support to the International Workers Memorial Day.
The Memorial Day, which is marked annually, is officially recognised in more than 16 countries around the world and commemorates those who have either lost their lives or have been injured in the workplace while at the same time helping raise the awareness of health and safety.
Lend Lease, owners of Golden Square, has been supporting the International Workers Memorial Day since 2006 but it only this year that the UK has officially participated.
The company has 10,000 employees in more than 30 countries and has striven to make Golden Square a safe place to work and visit by defining values and behaviours for all employees to follow.
Marketing manager Ian Cox said: “Golden Square continuously works to change employee attitudes to bring safety to the top of our agenda through implementing the industry leading systems and processes.
“We are delighted that we can show our support and help raise the profile of the International Workers’ Memorial Day”.
