WARRINGTON Wizards started their 2010 Co-operative Rugby League Conference National campaign off in fine style on Sunday when they comprehensivley defeated last season’s Grand Final runners up Huddersfield Underbank Rangers 54-20 on their own pitch.
The Wizards trailed 12-10 at the break but a scintillating second half performance saw them blow the home side away in clinical fashion running in ten tries in total in the game.
The try scorers for the Wizards were Alan Reddecliff 1, Matt Taylor 1, Carl Leach 2, Wez Lawton 1, Danny Shaw 2, Chris Campbell 1, Jono Smith 1 and Craig Middlemore 1.
Goals were added by Warren Ayres 4, Jono Smith 2 and Anthony Braide 1.
After the game Wizards Assistant Coach Mike Grady said, “That was a great way to get our league season underway. To come to Huddersfield and put over 50 points on them is a great achievement and has set down the benchmark for the season. We were very good right across the park today, especially in the second half, and we just brushed them aside in clinical fashon. We can now look forward to the Hemel game with confidence.”
Next Saturday the Wizards are at home to Hemel Stags. Kick off is 3.30pm at Wilderspool Stadium. Admission is £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions.
