LYMM Piranhas FC have been awarded the prestigious FA Charter Standard Club award for grassroots football by the Cheshire County Football Association.
Rangers and former Everton star David Weir was on hand to help the club celebrate achieving the award.
The FA Charter Standard programme, supported by FA partner McDonald’s, was established to help clubs to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and safeguarding children. The FA Charter Standard award is presented to those clubs like Lymm Piranhas FC who have raised their standards in these areas and lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch in grassroots football.
Mark Robison, Club Chairman said: “Lymm Piranhas are delighted to have achieved FA Charter Standard. We are committed to giving opportunities to children of all abilities within the local community to play football. By becoming a charter standard club, we have ensured that all of our coaches have the necessary skills to do this.”
Peter Nicholls, Senior Football Development Officer added: “The FA Charter Standard award acknowledges the support Lymm Piranhas FC provides to the local community and their efforts to ensure the club offers opportunities for players to develop their skills and play football in a safe and positive environment. The Cheshire County FA is committed to raising the standards of football at grassroots level and the dedication and achievements of clubs like Lymm Piranhas FC make this possible.”
Lymm Piranhas FC were presented with their award at their training ground at Lymm Leisure Centre.
Since 2002, over 117 clubs representing more than 1300 teams in Cheshire have achieved FA Charter Standard Club, Adult Club, Development or Community Club status.
