WARRINGTON Town’s new striker Gavin Salmon, who became an instant fans
favourite after netting in the 2-1 victory at AFC Fylde on Saturday, is
set to make his home debut tonight against Rossendale, kick off 7.45pm.
Manager Joey Dunn is hoping for maximum points against the Unibond Division One North’s basement club but will be taking nothing for granted.
But he believes the arrival of Salmon has brought a new dimension to the club, which can now boast one of the best front lines in the league, with 22-goal Chris Gahgan set to be named in Non League’s dream team for January.
With Tony Evans and Jimmy McCarthy also in the front-line Warrington now have a team attracting a lot of interest from other sides.
With just one defeat in their last five games, maximum points against Rossendale tonight and against fellow strugglers Ossett Albion at home on Saturday, Town will be in the play off hunt.
Meanwhile Dunn is still looking to strengthen his squad to ensure Warrington can contend with a hectic schedule of seven games in February.
“We are taking nothing for granted,” said Dunn. “But I was really pleased with Gavin’s debut as he has added a new dimension to the team. He is a proven goal scorer and showed that in his first game for us.”
Salmon has already become a hero with the “barmy army” and is affectionately known as “Fish.”
