Salmon eager for action

WARRINGTON Town’s new striker Gavin Salmon is raring to make his long awaited first team debut when Warrington Town travel to AFC Fylde on Saturday.
The veteran striker bagged 24 goals for Woodley Sports last season and got on the score sheet twice in a friendly for Town last week and has previous experience in the Conference with Droylsden and Hyde.
Warrington will be hoping it is third time lucky after losing 4-1 at home to the Lancashire coast based team in October and crashing out of the President’s cup 3-2 with a last gasp goal earlier in the season.
Salmon said: “I am really looking forward to my debut after the long wait. It would of been against Leigh if my release from Woodley had been correctly dealt with by them.
However, that is in the past now and I’m a Warrington Town player now. I’ve been training with the team for the last few weeks and got a taste of things in last week’s friendly. The lads have been great and have made me feel very welcome and part of the squad. I am looking forward to scoring loads of goals and helping Warrington in the push for promotion.
“Saturdays game can’t come fast enough for me and I am really excited and nothing but three points is on the agenda!”
Warrington Town manager Joey Dunn rates Salmon highly and believes he can help provide the extra cutting edge to the team’s strike force, with goals having been in short supply for much of the season, with only Chris Gahgan managing double figures.
