Bungalow proposals get green light

PLANS to build 20 rented bungalows for the elderly have been given the green light by development control chiefs at Warrington.
The proposals involve five sites in different parts of the borough and the development will be carried out by the Arena Housing Association.
But the properties will remain in the ownership of Warrington Borough Council.
Eight properties will be built on land bounded by Atlee Avenue, Churchill Avenue and Eden Avenue at Mee Brow, Culcheth, four will be built in Henshall Avenue, Westy, another three in Charnock Road, Culcheth, three adjacent to Kimberley Street and Percy Street, Whitecross and two adjoining North View, Great Sankey.
There was some opposition from local residents to the Mee Brow scheme on the grounds the development would involve the loss of a grassed area used as an informal play space for more than 60 years.
But officers said was a surplus of recreational land in the area.
There was one objection to the scheme at Great Sankey on the grounds the scheme could lead to traffic dangers for young children playing in the street and also parking problems.
