Phone lines vandalised

RESIDENTS in the Westbrook and Callands areas of Warrington were left without phone lines over the weekend after cables were deliberately ripped out of a junction box last Friday night.
Extra police patrols were dispatched to the areas to reassure residents, who were unable to access the internet or make 999 calls, while BT worked to restore services.
Phone lines were reconnected in the early hours of Sunday morning. Two men were arrested at the scene and have now been charged with causing criminal damage.
Christopher Brown, 24 and a 17-year old youth, are due to appear at Halton Magistrates Court today.
