A MAN was taken to hospital at Warrington during the night after firefighters led him to safety from his smoke-filled flat.
The incident was in St Katherine’s Way, Warrington and involved a pan of food which had been left on a cooker.
Fire crews were called to the scene by neighbours and had to awake the occupant who was in bed.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and led the man to safety. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear dense smoke from the property.
The occupant was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and then taken to hospital to be kept under observation.
