WARRINGTON Wolves Prop Paul Wood is set to become a film star in a documentary made by film students to mark his testimonial year.
The prop forward is the subject of a short film made by TV production students at the University of Chester. It features tributes from team-mates and supporters who claim Paul is the ‘life and soul’ of the Club after spending 10 years there.
Paul has played for Great Britain and took the titles of England’s International Player of the Season in 2005 and Warrington Wolves’ Player of the Year in 2006.
He said: “It’s an honour to have a DVD produced for my testimonial. It’s a bit different from the usual testimonial programme and supporters will be able to re-live the highlights of my career.
The film will be screened during official dinners and other social events during Paul’s testimonial year, which officially launches in December. It will also be played for fans at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The committee organising his testimonial approached Wayne O’Brien, senior lecturer in TV Production at the University of Chester and asked his students if they’d like to be involved.
Wayne said: “It is the first time anything like this has been done for one of their players. It was a great opportunity for our students to be involved in making a film like this which will receive a lot of interest.”
The DVD will soon be on sale at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, the home of Warrington Wolves. A preview of the DVD can be viewed on YouTube and on Paul Wood’s fan page on Facebook.
