A MAN armed with what appeared to be a breadknife failed in a bid to steal cash from a Warrington betting shop.
The offender went into the bookmakers in Lovely Lane, Warrington late last night (Thursday) brandishing the knife and demanding money from the till.
The woman assistant refused and he jumped over the counter and brandished the kniff.
Eventually he fled empty handed leaving the woman shaken but unhurt.
Police say he was in his 20s, about 5ft 10 inches tall and of slim build. He was covering his face with a black scarf and woollen hat.
Anyone who can help police with their enquiries is asked to call 0845 458 000 or the national Crimestoppers confidential line 0800 555 111.
