POLICE at Warrington are investigating a suspected arson attack in which a new BMW car was virtually destroyed early today.
The blaze was in Dial Street and was discovered at about 3am this morning.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using two hosereel jets but the car – parked on a car park at the side of a block of flats – was almost completely burned out.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “The car was well alight when we got there and it is strongly suspected it was a case of deliberate ignition.”
The car was owned by the occupier of one of the flats.
