Cheshire Cats celebrate achievements

THE new Warrington based junior Rugby League club Cheshire Cats held their inaugural Presentation Evening at Lymm Rugby Union Club hosted by former top Super League and international referee Karl Kirkpatrick, who is the club’s official Ambassador.
Guests of Honour were Warrington Wolves’ Director of Youth Development John Bastian and Player Performance Manager Ben Lazenby plus of course the Challenge Cup and three times Wembley winner Anthony Sullivan, who was on hand to explain to the children and parents what it was like to play at Wembley and to lift the Challenge Cup. Anthony’s 3 medals were on display for all to see.
Pride of place was given to the historic and magnificent Challenge Cup which was won by Warrington Wolves at the end of August.
Player of the Year was Taylor Boyne who was selected after a vote amongst his playing colleagues.He was presented with his trophy by Ben Lazenby.
Clubman of the Year was Dylan Waters – selected by the coaching panel. The trophy was presented by John Bastian to Sam Waters on behalf of her son who was unable to attend through illness.
Special certificates of merit were presented to: Jay Bridle, Cameron Buckley, Connor Byron, Oliver Fleming, Aaron Hopkinson, Ethan Jude, Isaac Jude, Daniel Munt, George Pemberton, Toby Phillips, Jake Taylor, Kane Sullivan and Ross McKinnon.
Ben Povey, Director of Development at Cheshire Cats, stressed the high standards of discipline and conduct displayed by the children, saying : “The childrens’ chests should be swelling with pride after a fine season that was a massive achievement. The team has always shown a positive attitude and great team spirit.
“The side did not concede a single penalty throughout the season for poor discipline or misconduct.”
