Caravan targeted by arsonists

ARSONISTS struck at Warrington early this morning – virtually destroying a caravan.
The blaze was in Back Forshaw Lane, off Battersby Lane and involved a domestic caravan parked near a row of terraced houses.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the outbreak with a hosereel jet. But the interior of the caravan was completely destroyed and there was serious damage to the main structure.
A Fire Service spokesman said it was not a new vehicle but had no number plates attached. It did not belong to nearby householders but appeared to have been parked there.
He added: “It was definitely arson – someone had broken into the caravan and set it alight. But there was no danger to nearby property.”
Police are investigating the 5am incident.
